Power comes in.

The motor starts turning.

It counts the current.

Three phase or single phase, it never stops counting.

It has passed your setting.

It still does not cut. This could be inrush current.

Your set time

Stay over it this long and it cuts.
You set the time yourself.

OVER-CURRENT PROTECTION RELAY

It cuts before the motor burns

It does not break the current itself. It drops the magnetic contactor. That is a trip.

WHERE IT SITS

It wires into the breaker

Power arrives from the main breaker (MCCB) and the magnetic contactor (MC) runs the motor. The OPR reads the current going to the motor.

Even when it catches a fault, the OPR never breaks the current itself. It signals the MC and drops it. So when the MC rating changes, you keep the same OPR.

It is not a replacement for the breaker. It wires into the breaker to protect the motor.

Set it with the dials

TANGENT KOREA OPR faceplate with D-TIME, LOAD and O-TIME dials, indicator lamps, TEST and RESET buttons.
LOAD (A)Rated current. Set it to the motor nameplate current. Past this, sensing begins.
O-TIME (S)If over-current keeps coming for this long, it trips.
D-TIME (S)Start delay. The window that ignores the surge as the motor spins up.
TEST / RESETHold to verify operation for the set time; press to reset.

Three lamps tell you the state

GreenRunning. All normal.
OrangeDetected. Past your setting.
RedTrip. The MC has been dropped.
